Someone Tried To Mail Snakes And Nope You Can't Do That

Snakes are having a GOOD TIME this summer. Snakes have popped up in Christmas trees, invaded children's bedrooms, consumed other snakes, and God knows what else.

Peter Ronald Mahon / NSW Police

Around 10.30pm on Wednesday a postal worker called the police to say they had found "reptiles" inside a parcel.

A snake catcher was called to the scene and found three snakes, ranging from 200cm-to-1.2m long. The species of the snakes has not been confirmed.

As it turns out, you cannot send snakes through the post. No, not even in an Australia Post Tough Bag.

Police are investigating, and have been told the parcel was sent from the post office in Glendale, about 15km west of the Newcastle CBD around lunchtime on Wednesday.

Officers have released two photographs of a man who they believe can help with the investigation.

Anyone with information can contact Newcastle Police Station on 0249 290 999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
