Here's What Happened When We Tried Starbucks' New Pretty Ombre Pink Drink

Think pink.

Last night Starbucks announced a brand new pretty in pink summer drink, available starting June 1.

This one isn't a Frappucino but instead it's a refresher (iced tea). It's called the Ombre Pink Drink because of the color. The baristas make this by starting with a coconut milk base + the cool lime refresher (lime juice + mint) + iced Passion tea + real lime.

Much like the very popular (and extremely cute) Unicorn Frappuccino, Starbucks is leaning in on creating "Instagram-worthy" drinks. Ombre is super popular with hairstyles and food, so it makes sense that Starbucks would throw itself into the trend. "We created the Ombre Pink Drink because of our customers’ love for the Starbucks Pink Drink and their ongoing enthusiasm for delicious and beautiful beverages," a Starbucks spokesperson told us. The Pink Drink is available starting today, June 1, at a majority of Starbucks stores in the U.S., Canada Mexico, and Puerto Rico.

We love iced tea and Starbucks too, so the Ombre Pink drink sounded like a perfect summer beverage on paper... But we wanted to see if it actually tasted any good. So we headed to our local Starbucks to check it out.

When I arrived at my Starbucks there wasn’t any signage for the Ombre Pink Drink, which led me to believe that there wasn’t going to be much promo — this was going to be a “word of mouth” drink.
