Elisabeth Moss won the award for Best Actress in a TV Drama on Sunday at the 75th Golden Globe Awards for her role of June Osborne, aka Offred, in Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale.

Moss used her acceptance speech to honor Atwood by reading a message from the author about female empowerment.

"'We were the people who were not in the papers," read Moss. "We lived in the blank white spaces at the edge of print. It gave us more freedom. We lived in the gaps between the story.'"

Moss then dedicated the award to the Canadian author: "Margaret Atwood, this is for you and the women who came before you and after you who were brave enough to speak out against intolerance and injustice and to fight for equality and freedom in this world."
